Dropping Weight For Wrestling
Health February 25th. 2009, 1:30pmWhen I was in eighth grade I decided to try out for the wrestling team. I had no idea what I was getting myself into! I was a moderately athletic kid growing up and I thought, why not give wrestling a try? The first week was what they called ‘hell week’ and boy were they right! So much of wrestling is about getting down to your lowest possible weight when you weigh in so that you can wrestle the littlest guys. They taught us all these quick weight loss techniques like running miles dressed in trash bags or layering on five sweatshirts. I guess I wasn’t cut out for all of that, I didn’t even last through the end of ‘hell week!’
