How Important Are Background Checks?
Reference September 13th. 2008, 5:22amThere’s been a lot of discussion about privacy recently and some people are concerned about the use of their personal information.
That’s an important concern, but it’s often critical to locate background information.
For instance, law enforcement needs it to help arrest criminals, and private investigators use these records in their work as well.
During a trial, attorneys will review the background of witnesses and clients, to help them create a defense or prosecution.
Because it is so critical, there are online databases which can provide background information, including arrest records.
Privacy and responsible information handling is critical, but providing background information to legal professionals is an important part of enforcing the law.
